On 29 March 2017 Jiong Zhang successfully defended his PhD thesis at TU/e in Eindhoven, titled: Multi-Orientation Analysis of Retinal Images for Computer-Aided Diagnosis. Promotor is prof. Bart ter Haar Romeny, co-promotores are dr. Behdad Dashtbozorg and dr. Remco Duits.
Jiong Zhang is currently working as a Postdoctoral research associate at the Laboratory of Neuro Imaging (LONI) of Keck School of Medicine at University of Southern California (USC), Los Angeles, United States. Before that, he worked as a Postdoctoral researcher at the Medical Image Analysis group (IMAG/e) at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), Eindhoven, the Netherlands. He finished the former education in computer science with experiences in computer vision at Northwest A&F University of Xi’an, China. He received his M.Sc. degree in 2012. Jiong’s PhD project is part of the RetinaCheck project, a Sino-Dutch large-scale screening program for detecting early diabetic retinopathy in China. He finished his PhD on the topic of ”Multi-orientation analysis of retinal images for computer-aided diagnosis” in March, 2017. Currently, he is working on the 3D shape modeling and analysis of retinal optical coherence tomography (OCT) angiography images.
